History
In ancient times the Colosseum was used for gladiator fights. Those brave warriors had to fight against each others in differing amour and differing weapons. Sometimes the gladiators even faced animals like lions which were transported to the arena with a very sophisticated elevator system. After a fight, the Emperor decided if the gladiator fought bravely and entertained the masses, which would spare his live or if he was unsatisfied with the fight kill the gladiator. For special occasions the Colosseum could even be filled with water to stage epic ship battles and other sea fights.
